The preferred candidate will have an interest in working in a dynamic and collaborative global design environment with a diverse range of public assembly building types; including the design of sports venues, convention centers, community buildings and transportation facilities.
We are seeking a passionate, creative, engaged, and technically proficient Project Architect to join us in a dynamic and collaborative design atmosphere. Applicants must possess exceptional design and technical abilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Delivery of architectural projects from conception through construction.
- Researches code requirements and ensures feasibility of design solutions.
- Follows and manages project budget, work plan, consultants and schedule.
- Communicates with Project Manager regarding key deliverable dates.
- Creates design solutions to meet client specifications, creates and proposes budget and time estimations.
- Maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team (i.e. Project Designer, Project Manager, and Principal in Charge).
- Acts as an intermediary between the client and the architectural team.
- Fosters on-going communication through team meetings, minutes, and up-date memos to project team including consultants.
- Ensures project documentation is in compliance with the standards set forth by Populous policy.
- Coordinates team effort to complete a project promptly and successfully, while ensuring that the team is working effectively and keeping to the schedule and budget.
- Construction administration including processing of submittals, RFI’s, and other project documentation during construction.
- Provides office leadership including professional development coaching and mentoring staff.
- Consistently reviews work and communicate needs and concerns to project staff.
- Defines staff requirements for projects as needed or directed.
- All other duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Strong relationship-building and problem solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Guide design, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
- Understanding of architectural building systems.
- Thorough understanding of project work plans, schedules, staffing, and budgets a must.
- Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Revit, required. Familiarity with Newforma preferred.
- Communicates professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Works in a team environment.
- Meets deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated personality.
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- 8 to 18 years of experience in architectural practice with prior experience in all phases of architectural projects.
- Project design experience with sport stadium, arenas, convention centers, hospitality, and aviation a strong plus.
- Registered Architect with a current license.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED not required, but a plus.
Compensation
The projected salary range for this opportunity is $70,000 – $95,000 annually and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education.
Other:
- Travel will be required.
- Overtime will be required.
