John’s legacy is one of collaboration and consensus building, and this legacy has infused HMFH’s identity and design approach. As a founding principal, John led many of the firm’s significant projects, including the preservation of a beloved historic building for the Lincoln School in Winchester and the bold and iconic concrete silo design for Coastal Cement Corporation, now a landmark along the South Boston waterfront. Throughout his career, John maintained active civic and professional engagement, using his vast knowledge and proven expertise to guide public policy on the built environment. He was a founding member of the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA) Educational Facilities Committee, a group that, to this day, facilitates dialogue between architects and policymakers by working with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to establish critical regulations and standards for public schools in the Commonwealth.
I enjoy all aspects of the architecture profession and civic engagement…I never tire of the collaborative process necessary to make good buildings.
